Optical & Eye Care Services We Provide in Independence, MO

optical

Optical Shop

Discover Vision Optical is open to our patients as well as the public. No appointment is required to come into our optical shop and speak with an optician or look at eyeglass frames. Each of our 9 clinic locations has an optical shop that provides a wide variety of eyeglasses, sunglasses, and even work-related specialty protective options.

Contact Lenses

Discover Vision carries a wide variety of contact lenses at a competitive price. Contact lenses must be prescribed by an optometrist during a routine eye exam. Following your eye exam, your prescription is valid for 12 months and can be filled at Discover Vision Centers or provided to you to order from wherever you wish.

Diabetic Eye Care

If you have diabetes Type 1 or Type 2, diabetic eye care is important. If you have experienced vision loss or noticed changes in your vision, it is important to talk to your eye doctor. Depending on your condition, your doctor may recommend that a 6-month checkup is needed in between your annual eye exams. The purpose of diabetic eye checks is to monitor the health of your eyes and detect changes along the way.

Routine Eye Exams

Discover Vision offers eye exams in Independence, MO. The frequency of routine eye exams may vary depending on your age as well as other factors such as wearing glasses or contact lenses, or if you have been diagnosed with certain eye conditions. Routine eye exams are performed by our optometrists to check the overall health of your eyes, and to provide a prescription for those who use corrective lenses. Annual eye exams are the best way to detect serious eye conditions before they progress.

Eye Conditions We Treat at Discover Vision Eye Center

Nearsightedness

Depending on your lifestyle, myopia, or nearsightedness, can be treated with eyeglasses, contact lenses, or refractive surgery procedures such as LASIK or SMILE Vision Correction.

Farsightedness

Discover Vision treats hyperopia, or farsightedness, with eyeglasses or contact lenses. Refractive surgery procedures can also be used to treat farsightedness in an effort to reduce dependency on glasses and contacts.

Presbyopia

Presbyopia is a condition that will affect each and every one of us. Presbyopia happens as a result of getting older and is caused by the natural lens in the eye losing its flexibility with age. Presbyopia often manifests itself through the need of reading glasses or no longer being able to see things up close.

Astigmatism

Astigmatism is a type of refractive error where the lens inside your eye is shaped more like a football than a perfect sphere. With astigmatism, light that enters your eye lacks a specific focal point which results in blurry vision or distorted images. Treatment options include eyeglasses, contact lenses, or refractive procedures such as LASIK or SMILE.

Dry Eye

Dry eye is an eye condition that occurs when your body is unable to produce enough tears to lubricate or add moisture to your eyes.

Macular Degeneration

Age-related macular degeneration, also known as AMD, is an eye disease that affects the central part of your vision. While AMD is not reversible, there are things your eye doctor can discuss with you to prevent or slow the progression of the disease.
